Originally, the Scuderia Ferrari sponsored drivers and cars from Alfa Romeo and Fiat. The company started producing cars in series in 1947. Became Ferrari SpA when in 1969 the Fiat Group came to the Board of Directors and became a shareholder in the company. The main shareholder is the Fiat Group, with 90%, 5% of the shares had been purchased in 2005 by a company in the UAE and the rest is owned by Piero Ferrari, son Enzo. The company has its headquarters in Maranello, near Modena and Bologna, Italy. In 2005 Ferrari sold 5409 cars with a sales increase of 8.7%, with a turnover of 1,500 million euros. In 2007 Ferrari produced 6525 cars in its factory in Maranello. This figure represented a 12.1% higher than 2006. The founder of this brand, Enzo Ferrari, ever thought of producing cars street when, in 1929, he formed Scuderia Ferrari, to sponsor amateur riders of Modena. Ferrari trained several pilots and competed successfully with Alfa Romeo cars until 1938, when he was officially hired by Alfa as head of their racing department. In 1940, upon learning of plans for the company to absorb his beloved Scuderia and take control of their work in the competition, left Alfa. Since it was prohibited by contract from competing for several years, the Scuderia briefly became Auto Avio Costruzioni Ferrari, which ostensibly produced machinery and equipment for aircraft. During this period they were unable to compete, in fact, a Ferrari racing car, the Type 815, this being the first Ferrari car really, but due to World War II competed very little. In 1943 the Ferrari factory moved to Maranello, where it has remained ever since. Was bombed in 1944 and rebuilt in 1946 to produce cars in the streets.
